anterior thigh pain

could anyone help with my Dx?

70 yr old man, 6 week h/o anterior thigh/ groin and around to front of knee pain. No injury sustained just came on gradually. Gets worse at night, gets up at least 3 times per night and has to walk around which eases pain.
Reports an episode (few days) of anterior thigh numbness which went with 1 session of acupuncture. No back pain reported. Reports a feeling that right leg could 'give way'. Recalls a previous lower back injury...

Recommended lumbar spine courses

I am a mum of 2 children and have slowed down my professional devt over the last few years. I recently went to Barb Hungerford's Level 1 Pelvis/Lumbar spine course - it was excellent, very practical and helpful.

Do you have any suggestions on beneficial courses esp re: manual therapy and lumbar spine/disc lesions (other than McKenzie). Also any suggestions for courses on dry needling, myofascial release.

limbus vertebrae

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew about treating limbus vertebrae.
I have a gentleman with right sided lower back pain with radiation down the lateral thigh to anterior knee. He is tender to mobilisation of L4-5 and palpation of piriformis. Pain is aggravated by right lateral flexion > extension and with walking prolonged distances. Sitting is okay.
Everything I have done so far has provided him with no/minimal relief.
He has a 'normal variant ununited ring apophysis limbus...

Metatarsal stress fractures

Does anybody know the recommended time period for non weight bearing for third metatarsal stress fractures? Is it simply a case of when pain free walking can be achieved? Also when is it sensible to commence activities such as aquajogging? Does anyone have any experiences to share of quick recovery from such an injury? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pain in the neck

Patient, 27 years old.
Pain in the left occipital region. All movements in the neck are painful with decreased ROM. Very painful on palpation atlanto-occipital and atlanto-axial joints.
Symptoms last for 2 weeks. Worse in the night, one night pain in the left half of the head from the occipital region to the front of the head with nausea.

Therapy on the first treatment - gently traction, massage, laser, and lateral flexion to the left (removed pain).

Hey,
i got this patient.. he has painful spinous process D8-9.. the pain increases with rotation.. both side. Flexion, Extension, Lat bending produce no pain orrestriction.. the patient was having Pt done at some government setup with Short wave diathermy and Ultrasound which gave no relief..

I've manipulated him using CYRIAX.. Distraction to spine then force on problem segment.. the patient had immediate relief.. his rotation range increased and became non painful.. but after 3-4...

hi guys, im a student physio just on placement,

ive got a patient who was c/o back pain that radiated down into her calf, her ankle reflex was dull and had a slight lateral shift

gave her mckenzie type ext exs and shift correction things, but she came back worse!

tried repeated ext exs- this Peripheralised her pain and flxn centralised it, and shes now getting better

Pt referred to me following MUA of knee.
Brief history- Pt injured her knee during exercise class doing star jumps, carried on, in pain the following day. was referred to physio 3 months ago who was unable to detect any injury, given exercises and reassurance as pt was anxious +++. Pt had subsequent mti and arthroscopy which showed no injury. Over coming months pt developed fixed flexion deformity which required the Mua. Under general anaesthetic...

wrist pain

I would like some advice about a patient.
The patient presents with a >1yr Hx of wrist pain, with an incidious onset and increase in sx.
Pmh of 2x wrist # many years ago but nil else of note.
Her pain follows a mechanical pattern, and her symptoms are focused on the wrist joint area with ocaisional radiaion 3" up the arm on the palmar aspect.
She has full ROM, with P @ EOR on all mvts and no creps.
She has pain on muscle contraction which limits acurate Ax of true...

Can anybody help me on finding out the intervention for a trapeziectomy both pre and pst op through physiotjerapy? i realise of course that strengthening and RoM exercises are required post op due to the 5weeks splinting endured by the patient but other than this i am unable to find much information...can anyone help me?? Names of people who have doen key studies on this area would also be much appreciated!!!

I have a patient with pain and numbness down the lateral side of the right arm and hand (palmart and dorsalt + fingers). He can´t remember how it started, maybe woke up with it. He especially feels the symptoms when he´s using the pc-mouse.

At university we have been learning that tendinopathy treatment should be based around off loading the tendon (strenghtening weak synergists, correcting posture etc) and increasing the load capacity of the tendon through eccentric strenghtening.

We learnt that tendionopathy is degeneration within the tendon and that this degeneration results in increased vascularisation and consequently nerve supply to the tendon.
